Backyard breeders suspected to be behind puppy dumping

SEVEN puppies were found abandoned on the side of the road at the weekend.

A passing motorist came across the bull-arab litter on the way to Mt Larcom when one of the puppies ran in front of her car.

Friends of RSPCA president Judy Whicker suspects backyard breeders are responsible for the dumping.

"The poor little things being left to fend for themselves," she said.

"It's hard to believe somebody could put them in that horrible situation."

The puppies are now under the care of the Friends of RSPCA secretary Tammy Driessen.

Ms Driessen said the puppies are very skinny and she guessed they were about six weeks old.

She said they would be vaccinated and re-homed.
