Premiers continue on winning way in women's rugby
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Gladstone Raidettes winning streak has continued into the new rugby league season.
The defending premiers kicked off their title defence with a massive 36-4 win against the Emerald Tigers on Sunday.
It didn't take long before the Raidettes pushed into the lead at Marley Brown Oval and that's where they stayed for the entire game.
At half-time the score was 18-4 and the Tigers didn't get another chance, with the Raidettes blocking any further opportunities to score.
Raidettes coach Glenn Butcher said he was proud to see his players' efforts and enthusiasm last throughout the second half.
"The other team never got a run; it was a really good effort all round," he said.
Butcher said he impressed with his team's approach to attack but admitted their defence might need a little bit of work.
"It is the first game, though and it will all come together," he said.
Butcher said the star players of the match included Chelsea Baker and Emily Demain-Beale.
