GLADSTONE people are expected to have more say in the governance of its port after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that she was calling for nominations for new Gladstone Ports Corporation board members.
She said at this morning's GAGAL 30th anniversary breakfast that she wanted to see Gladstone people taking up the positions.
"The Gladstone community supported us in opposition and I will repay the Gladstone community in spades."
"I want to see Gladstone residents represented on the board of the port," she said.
The current chairman of the board Mark Brodie, a friend of former LNP premier Campbell Newman, lives in Brisbane, as do a number of the current board members.
Ms Palaszczuk also announced that in early 2016 she hoped to bring community cabinet to Gladstone.
There was more than 70 guests at the celebratory breakfast, including the former GAGAL general manager Dave Burns and former chairman Ian Mitchell.
