Popular bed and breakfast is on the market
A HIDDEN gem, otherwise known as Auckland Hill Bed and Breakfast, is up for sale.
After just two months on the market, real estate agent Diana Macdonald has had some interest in the property - three local inquiries and one international.
The heritage property sits in prime position in Roseberry St.
With an extensive history in building and commercial property, Diana says this property is a fantastic investment that will be snapped up in no time.
"You're looking at capital growth, a strong business model, that unique niche-like factor and wow talk about heritage charm," she said.
"In times where the Gladstone market yo-yos, this bed and breakfast will survive."
The unique hideaway was built in 1974, with Therese and Terry Mitchell taking ownership in 1998.
Therese said in their time they'd seen everyone from celebrities to influential folk come through the doors.
"I've met people from all over the world living and working here," she said.
"Irish, French and American, just to name a few.
"We've had everyone from footy player Nick Farr Jones to police prosecutors, performers and lawyers."
The property's central location means it's just a stone's throw away from the court house, the wharf and Gladstone Entertainment Centre.
"We have six king rooms, two offices, nine showers and seven car parks, which keeps us busy," Therese said.
And although the couple is selling, they say they're happy to stay on a bit longer.
"We're very flexible in the fact that if new owners want a bit more hands-on training with us, or an investment owner wants us to stay on as the caretakers, we'll do it," Therese said.
"Therese and Terry are real community-based and will be sorely missed," Diana said.
"But this begins a new chapter for them and the potential new owners."
