Plenty to look forward to in upcoming season of eightball

EIGHTBALL: Nominations are now open for the Port City Cue Sports 2019 season which will start on January 15. Nominations will close January 7.

Club secretary Rachel Cooper said there are plenty of incentives for new players to join.

"In the 4-a-side comp, where you will play every team in a round robin, depending on how many teams nominate, the prize-money will be split into grades A, B and C," she said.

"After the first round, you will be advised what grade prize-money that you are playing for, but you will continue to play every team the same as the 2018 season."

Competition will be based on win-loss with no handicap and no ball count.

"We play every Tuesday night out of various venues such as Cotton Street, The Reef, RG's, Central Lane and we are open to any other venues," Cooper said.

"Cost is only $30 registration for the year and $10 game fees per night.

"In 2018 we have given back to the members over $7000 in cash and prizes we are hoping to increase this in 2019."

There will be other competitions like the members-only championships throughout 2019 with cash and trophies awarded.

"We are QEBF-affiliated and will commence trials for the central Queensland City versus Country, Country Cup and Q-Cup in the beginning of the year," she said.

Team nominations can be done via the Port City Cue Sports Facebook site and Cooper said people can be put into a team as well.
