PHOTOS: Qld TV show features Gladstone in positive light

A POSITIVE look at industry and events in Gladstone will be shown across the state this weekend on Our Town.

For three seasons Our Town has featured cities from Western Australia, and this season they are expanding to the other side of Australia.

Gladstone was one of five towns chosen to feature in a 30 minute episode.

The show has had more than 50,000 viewers for each of its two episodes so far.

Producer Lee Loraine said they chose Gladstone because of its resources sector.

The show will feature Southern Oil, QER, GAWB and the Boyne Tannum HookUp.

It is filmed by a Queensland crew, most of who had already been to Gladstone, but Lee said it was his first time.

"I was pleasantly surprised. I was impressed with the way the infrastructure has been built to accommodate the resources industry," Lee said.

"There is not many programs out there that do a full episode just on one location ... (Our Town) is an opportunity for people who don't watch a great deal of news or television to see what's happening in their backyard."

"It's really about getting people to visit, work, live, play and invest in the region."

The episode has taken up to five months to complete.

The crew was in the Gladstone region in November last year for filming.

The show will go to air on Channel 9 at 1pm on Saturday.

The episode will be shared on its Facebook page after.
