CRICKET: The Gladstone Cricket Incorporated competition returned to full swing into 2020 on Sunday.
Top side The Glen Black continued started from where it left off in 2019 against Yaralla White at Sun Valley Oval on Sunday with a nine-wicket win.
The vistors batted first but slumped to 3-29 before Chris Bye (26 runs) and Brad Eggmolesse steadied the ship somewhat.
Yaralla were eventually out for 78.
Bailey Zylkie was short of his crease attempting a risky run for just three while key batsman Trent Sorohan went one big hit too many as he was causght by Robby Woof off the bowling of The Glen Black captain Brendan Schluter.
Black then chased down the target in 15 overs with Eric Fourie unbeaten on 45.
Earlier Darran Schultz took 3-15 off eight overs and Brendan Schonknecht also grabbed a trio with 3-18.
In other games, BITS Saints took on BITS Colts at BITS Oval, Calliope hosted The Glen Gold and Yaralla Red played BITS Gold at Yaralla Oval.
BITS Gold registered a 94-run win against last-placed Yaralla Red at Yaralla Oval.
Gold batted first and made 8-221 with Michael Gough and Tim Jackson making 42 and 32 runs respectively.
Yaralla Red veteran Tony Wroe took 4-36 off 10 overs while Lachlan Elliott snared 2-36 from eight.
Jackson completed a great game to help dismiss the hosts for 127.
He took 3-29 (eight overs) and his team-mate Andrew Coates bagged 4-39 from eight overs.
Gaven Hoare top-scored for Yaralle Red with 33 runs.
