Gladstone home gets new lease of life in Bundy
"YHURRI Gurri", the period Queensland home that formerly resided on 28 Yarroon St, Gladstone, has been granted another life in another town.
In a massive operation, new home owner Kevin Taylor took the home and its foundations and has successfully relocated her to a waterfront view in Elliott Heads, near Bundaberg.
"As soon as we walked into it, we both felt that the house had embraced us and we had finally made a decision on our new retirement beach house," he said.
"The house basically spoke to us and we all made a secret promise to look after each other. She is a very special building."
Relocating the four-bedroom, two-storey home has not been a small feat for the Taylor family.
Bundy House Relocators, alongside a team of engineers, and certifiers worked tirelessly to restump the home in its new location by Christmas.
To the Taylor family's delight, they were able to enjoy a Christmas dinner underneath their new old home.
"It's by no means a cheap way of building a house," he laughed.
"As long as I live, there will be no other owner and she will always be cared for and treated as good as she has treated many, many people throughout her life."
As the Taylor family settle into their twilight years, so too does the house that has been a part of Gladstone's architecture since at least 1937.
