Palmer pledges $80 million in funds for NRL Stadium in Rocky
FEDERAL leader of the Palmer United Party Clive Palmer said today that if elected his party would provide about $160 million for a new sports centre and a range of hospitals across regional Queensland.
Mr Palmer's plan to improve health and recreation facilities for regional Queenslanders includes $80 million for a new sports centre at Rockhampton and $20 million each to go to hospitals at Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Mt Isa.
"Regional Queensland needs proper representation because it has been forgotten about for too long,'' Mr Palmer said.
"The inability of successive governments to manage the economy has had a devastating impact on regional communities where infrastructure and service delivery has been appalling.
"Hospitals are struggling and the Rockhampton area is crying out for a major sports centre.
"The Palmer United team understands the needs of regional and remote Queenslanders and we will deliver a team that gives them the representation they deserve.
"All of Queensland has been forgotten by the major parties. To get Queensland back on its feet, the Palmer United Party is the only answer,'' Mr Palmer said.
