UPDATE: 73-year-old CQ man was killed in blaze

UPDATE, SATURDAY 11.30AM: A Queensland Police spokesperson has confirmed the fire which killed an elderly Emerald man on Friday has not been found to be suspicious. 

A report will now be prepared for the coroner after a 73-year-old Emerald man died in the blaze. 

UPDATE 1PM: POLICE have confirmed one man has been killed in the blaze at Emerald this morning. 

A Queensland Police spokesman said police were called to the scene of the fire at a private Weemah Rd property at 11.30am and on arrival a caravan was on fire. 

As a result of the fire a man of unknown identity was found deceased at the scene. 

The spokesman said Scenes of Crime officers, Forensic officers and CIB detectives were currently at the scene investigating the fire. 

He said the fire was not being treated as suspicious at this stage. 

UPDATE 12.30PM: THE Morning Bulletin understands one person has tragically been killed in a fire at an Emerald property this morning. 

The person was confirmed as missing shortly after fire engulfed a caravan and shed at the property. 

UPDATE 11.40AM: A QUEENSLAND Police spokeswoman has confirmed police and Queensland Ambulance crews have also been called to the fire. 

The Morning Bulletin is working to obtain more details regarding reports one person is missing. 

BREAKING 11AM: QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services are at the scene of a serious structure fire in Emerald across the road from the Agricultural College. 

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman has confirmed three fire crews are currently fighting a fire at a property. 

A 20x20m2 shed on Weemah Rd, with a caravan inside, is fully engulfed in flames. 

Reports from crews at the scene indicate one person has been confirmed as missing.
