Event a great way to get people involved in giving season
THIS Saturday it's predicted, that if the numbers are anything like other years, there will be more than 200 people riding bikes, whether it be a push bike, tricycle, scooter or motorbike on a 30-kilometre trip around Gladstone for the Ulysses Motorcycle Club Christmas Toy Run.
The club said it would love to see people line the streets, cheering riders on.
I know that is certainly where I will be.
I've never ridden a motorbike, or grasped on the back as a squealing passenger either.
And, admittedly, I don't think my purple Huffy will be fit for a ride any time soon.
I can understand the adrenaline side of it I suppose, but I'm in no rush to seek my thrills on a motorbike.
Nevertheless, this great event encourages people to donate gifts to those who really need it is one of many that revolve around the Christmas season, the time of giving.
And within the next few weeks we're going to see many more.
The Adopt-a-Family Christmas Appeal is generating more interest and local businesses and families are signing up to adopt their own, to add a little more spirit to the Christmas for a family in need.
The organisers of the many Carols by Candlelight events will be gearing up for this year's festive shows, check out page 4 on where you can join in the seasonal sing-alongs.
That is just this week's Christmas news and it's not even December.
So, get ready to deck the halls, offices and homes, it seems it's going to be a very festive Christmas in Gladstone.
