Clarification of court proceedings

THE Gladstone Observer wishes to apologise to Derek Rucker for articles published online Thursday and in its daily edition on Friday.

The stories published indicated there was more than one fine and offences.

As there was only one fine resulting in one offence, the article did not accurately reflect the circumstances that led Mr Rucker to pleading guilty to unlicensed driving.

Mr Rucker received a speed camera fine for travelling 67kmh in a 60kmh zone late last year.

Due to his busy schedule and change in living circumstances, Mr Rucker was unaware that he was driving unlicensed when he was pulled over on the morning of May 22 this year on his way to a school visit.

The Observer in no way meant to imply that Mr Rucker is a dangerous driver or had a string of driving offences that led to his disqualification.
