Canines of all sizes looking for love at adoption day
THIS Sunday is dog adoption day, and Gladstone families are being asked to assess whether there is room for more love in your home.
From Sharpei's to Chihuahua's, Staffordshire Bull Terriers to German Shepherds, there is once again a number of canines looking for love.
The day will be held at the PCYC on Yarrunga Street where 40 dogs of all shapes and sizes are up for adoption.
Judy Whicker, President of Friends of the RSPCA in Gladstone says there are a number of larger dogs in the region who have been surrendered or abandoned.
"Once again I think the number of breeders are having an impact on the number of dogs without homes," she said.
"People take on the responsibilty of cute little puppies, but when they grow up, they aren't prepared to continue the commitment."
"With the number of projects winding up in town, the dogs bought on a whim are being left behind, with nowhere to live," said Mrs Whicker.
Consider the responsibility of becoming a pet owner, and if you are ready for a long term commitment, head to the PCYC this Sunday.
