No-take fish reminder

GLADSTONE recreational anglers are being reminded about a number of species which are off limits or “no take” for fishermen.

Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol education officer Karl Roebuck said many of the no-take species are quintessentially Queensland and it was important for recreational anglers to help the fish to survive.

Included in the no-take category are the Australian lungfish, barramundi cod, black teatfish, bloomfield river cod, Chinaman fish, female mud and blue swimmer crabs, egg-bearing spanner crabs, slipper lobsters and tropical rock lobsters, hump headed Maori wrasse, Mary River cod, Queensland grouper, red bass, river blackfish, spiny crayfish and tar spot tropical rock lobsters.
