No rest for Gladstone's young rugby union Goats

RUGBY UNION: WHILE both codes of rugby take a break, there are some junior teams that are in the midst of playing union.

These are the Gladstone Rugby Union Football Club Goats' under-17, 15s and 13s teams which are two games into a six-game mini-series.

Morris said new players were welcome to the sport.

Dave O'Brien looks after the under-15s and Anthony Patali mentors the 17s.

Morris guides a talented side with lock Callum Morris showing promise in the halves.

Callum's teammate Jack Kentwell, at number eight, also drew the praise from his coach.

"We have a very good halves combination of nine and eight," Morris said.

The young Goats won their first game against Emerald's Red Claws two weeks ago, 48-18, before losing to Rockhampton last week.
