Senate unites to pass no-jab-no-pay laws for immunisation

THE federal government passed the no-jab-no-pay laws yesterday which will remove childcare benefits, rebates and the Family Tax Benefit A end-of-year supplement from parents who don't immunise their children.

The no-jab-no-pay laws passed through the senate with ease as Labor, the Greens and crossbench senators came together in rare instance of congeniality.

The new laws will take effect on January 1 next year, with exemptions for medical reasons.

In Gladstone 92.2% of five-year old children are fully immunised.
