Water slide heads up choice of activities

"IT'S fantastic and I love it" was the reaction from Charlee Stuart, 7, after trying out the Tannum Sands holiday park slide.

The arrival of the new water slide had both local and visiting kids in a frenzy looking forward to cooling off in the warm spring weather.

Holiday park assistant manager Vicki Milson said the slide, and the gorgeous area in general, was what drew people to the park year after year.

"Over the weekend we had three or four new families stay here and they don't want to leave," Ms Milson said.

Park guest Angee Stewart said she'd been travelling Australia with the kids and Tannum Sands is now the final stop.

"We've fallen in love. We came here for two weeks and we've been here for six months," Mrs Stewart said.

"The kids and I both have grown holiday friendships."

In the spirit of school holidays the park is running a lolly treasure hunt every morning which is also proving to be a huge hit.

"Just having the kids all together and having a ball is what it's all about," holiday guest Patricia Morrison said yesterday.

Blake Anderson, 7, said his favourite thing about school holidays was the time off and getting about and about.

"I get to do cool things and use the pool a lot," he said.

Smiles were also on the show yesterday as school holiday activities continue at the scrapbook fantasies craft class.

First-time teacher Naomi-Jon Redshaw, 14, loved passing on her knowledge of cardmaking and scrapbooking to other kids.

"I get to see kids make cool creations that they never thought possible," she said. "I'll be taking it up full time."

Student Keelin Quinn said she enjoyed just having the time to be able to do scrapbooking.

"No school is great; I get to hang out with my friends whenever I like," Miss Quinn said.

And the kids are advised to make the most of it with only five days left until school starts back up again.
