New council planning scheme is official
THE long awaited new Gladstone region planning scheme was accepted by the council.
The council says it has resolved two of the most contenitous issues raised by the new scheme - changes to the Hanson Rd precinct and the inclusion of a 0.8 metre sea level rise by 2100 affecting the coastline.
"We hit the nail on the head with the Hanson Rd precinct," Deputy Mayor Matt Burnett said during Tuesday's council meeting.
"The changes will give them the confidence to go forward (and grow) and not think they are being shut down in any way."

The new planning scheme takes affect on October 12.
