TWO fires in the Gladstone region that are inaccessible to firefighters were still burning on Monday night.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services reported four crews were on site at Ambrose at 1pm where 50ha of land was ablaze around the Gentle-Annie Rd area.

Landowners and firefighters did a major back-burn to control the blaze, which was still going at 6pm, with some parts inaccessible.

A fire in the state forest at Calliope was also still going, burning close to a property in the Dan Dan State Forest.

QFES said Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service was looking after that fire.

Four fire crews attended a fire on Gorge Rd in Taunton at 1pm.

Although the QFES had no details about how large the fire was, back-burning was done to protect a property, and the fire was contained at 2.20pm, and fully extinguished at 3.15pm.

A second Calliope fire at a Baker Rd paddock had been contained by 2.15pm.

Firefighters also back-burned after a fire at midday close to Lake Awoonga.

The Taragoola fire in the Charters Crossing Rd area was under control by 1.20pm.
