Mudcrabs meeting for a sunny future
AFL: Gladstone Mudcrabs has a special general meeting of the members of Gladstone Australian Rules Football Club Inc on October 14, 1pm at the Oaks Grand hotel venue.
The meeting will discuss a rebranding and alliance with the Gold Coast Suns club which will include a change of club colours, and logo from Mudcrabs to Suns.
For the past year, a GARFC committee has been working closely with the Australian Football League Queensland to consider rebranding the football club.
At a meeting on September 25, the committee voted by a majority for the rebranding, and the AFL club identified to provide maximum benefit for the long-term future was the Gold Coast Suns.
As part of this rebranding, there will be no change to the football club's official name of Gladstone Australian Rules Football Club Inc.
This meeting was the first formal step in the process of rebranding the club. A presentation will be made and members will vote on adopting the change for the club.
For the change to take effect, a special general resolution must be passed at the meeting in accordance with the Associations Inc Act 1981 and passed by 75 per cent of the members who are present and voting.
All 2018 financial members of the GARFC are eligible to vote, as well as one paternal vote for each registered junior and life member.
A concerted effort would be made to contact life members over the next two weeks.

The Gold Coast Football Club (Suns) was founded in 2009 and is based at the Carrara Stadium (Metricon Stadium).
The club's colours are red and gold.
