Motor heads head to show
IT IS every 'motor heads' made in heaven moment.
The 2012 Walz Group Motorsport Show is an event not to miss with a turbo charged weekend of car shows, live entertainment and fun for the whole family assured.
Being held over two days on Saturdaymarch24 and Sundaymarch25 at the Calliope River Historical Village, the annual event will feature a diverse range of automobiles from speedway and side cars to drag racers, rally sprint cars to show cars.
There will also be vintage and historic cars on display plus trucks, old tractors, utes, motorcycles and even ski and power boats.
Hosted by the Gladstone Auto Club, the event will celebrate its sixth showing.
Gladstone Auto Club vice president Neil Smith said seven day trading had seen the event relocate from the Stockland Gladstone car park to the much bigger location of Calliope River Historical Village.
Smith said this had allowed the motorsport show to grow considerably and allowed for bigger machinery to feature in the event.
Enthusiasts will travel from across Queensland to compete in or visit the show with many to make the most of free camping overnight on Saturday in preparation for judging on Sunday.
"There will be quite a few different race cars plus transporters in this year's show," Smith said.
"We will also have factory race cars on display plus trade displays."
Gates open on Saturday from midday with trade displays operating and live band Dukes of Rhythm performing from 4-8pm.
Sunday is the big action day with judging from 9am and the car display to go throughout the day until 2pm.
Entry is $5 and children under 12 are free.
It's not too late to sign up for the show, simply go online at www.gladstoneautoclub.com.au or phone Neil Smith on 0409 895 737.
