Motel room break ins investigated by police

HARBOUR Lodge Motel visitor Alex Wohl was woken at 3am by a white ute left running outside his unit.

He got out of bed to see what was going on when a skinny man wearing shorts and no shirt came down the stairs.

"I asked him if this was some kind of wake up service," he said.

"He jumped in the car and I went back to bed."

Around 15 minutes later Mr Wohl was woken again as the man entered his unit.

He told Mr Wohl he was checking the sheets before he was told to leave.

"It didn't occur to me that he was stealing anything because he just looked so high," he said.

"The next thing there are cops here at 6.30 in the morning asking people questions and apparently he had taken people's wallets and keys."

AT LEAST four motel rooms have been broken into overnight in Gladstone.

Police are at the Roseberry St motel investigating now.

Anyone with information on the break and enters can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Gladstone Police Station on 4971 3222.
