New ports corporation chief steps into role on Monday
CRAIG Doyle will begin his role as the Gladstone Ports Corporation's new chief executive officer on Monday.
His first week is expected to involve a number of internal briefings, as he is shadowed by former chief Leo Zussino.
He comes from Australia's largest sugar milling company, Wilmar, with knowledge in logistics based business.
Mr Zussino has returned to GPC to ensure a smooth transition and handover for Mr Doyle.
Mr Zussino's 21-year history with the port was recognised by the community, with an afternoon tea in his honour held by the Gladstone Regional Council on Friday.
Attended by councillors and officers who Mr Zussino worked closely with over the years, Mayor Gail Sellers said it was about the council thanking him on behalf of the community.
"I felt it was necessary to say thank you for all the things that he's accomplished over the last 21 years," she said.
"Because he's a local man, he's driven to provide things for the local community and his heart is in the local community."
