Miriam Vale fans excited to host Intrust Super Cup match
MIRIAM Vale is buzzing with excitement in anticipation of the biggest sporting event hosted to date at the Gary Larson Oval.
The Intrust Super Cup will visit the usually quiet town host the Central Queensland Capras taking on the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles.
Gary Larson Oval Enhancement Group president Owen Harms is counting down the days until the big match on February 8.
"We are thrilled for our sports complex to be hosting such an extraordinary attraction," he said.
"It's the culmination of a long-term vision, and a lot of hard work. We can't wait for the day."
Gary Larson Oval will transform for the day into a festival atmosphere, with entertainment, food, coaching clinics and a jumping castle for the kids.
Senior Magpies president Beau Hancock said the event would be an opportunity for aspiring players and a tribute for older footy generations.
"It's a huge inspiration for some of our young talented players. No doubt there will be quite a few fringe NRL players on display. This is where Gary started," he said.
"I also see it as a tribute to our old boys and all the volunteers in our committee and the community over the years.
"By keeping our club going for so long it is kind of a reward for them. We can't wait - bring on the 8th."
Buses are operating from Gladstone Calliope and Tannum Sands for a bargain price of $10 return.
