Mennie's 7th heaven
FORMER Coffs Harbour fast bowler Joe Mennie has recorded career best bowling figures taking seven wickets playing for South Australia in its Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the WACA.
The 23 year-old's incredible bowling numbers kept the Redbacks in the match after a result for the away side looked long gone.
The incredible performance means Mennie is now the fifth youngest player to take seven wickets at the WACA.
It was also the second best performance by a South Australian player at the ground.
Unfortunately for Mennie and his Redbacks teammates, the fine effort with the ball could not erase the damage done by dismissed for only 93 in the first innings.
Mennie made 12 in the South Ausralian second innings which helped to avoid an innings defeat but the Warriors only required 15 runs to secure an outright victory.
Having played in the Futures League for New South Wales, Mennie moved to Adelaide in the off-season after being placed on a rookie contract.
Far from simply being a rookie, the right-hander has now played three Sheffield Shield matches as well as two Ryobi Cup domestic one-day clashes.
