GP home visit service expands with free vaccinations
GLADSTONE residents will be able to take advantage of more home-based medical services with the Dr Mark GP Home Visit Service set to expand its program.
Two new services will be provided from Monday - a live receptionist and free flu vaccinations for Gladstone residents.
Since it was launched in January, about 200 patients have registered with the after-hours service that offers free bulk billing consultations from 6-9pm on weekdays, noon to 9pm on Saturdays and 10am to 9pm on Sundays.
Before Monday it was operated solely through an online appointment system, and Dr Mark Entezami said the new receptionist would make the service more accessible.
"To expand the service to those that have no internet access or computer access, we started looking at putting on a live receptionist," he said.
"If your kid is sick right now the last thing that is probably on your mind is hopping on the internet, unless you've done it before.
"We're not going to remove that option. Anyone who is comfortable with that still can use it obviously."
The service will also offer free flu vaccinations.
Dr Entezami said by providing free, after-hours vaccinations, he hoped people would become proactive with their health.
"On the preventative side I think we are a little bit behind, especially in Gladstone, so we have to put through that message of be proactive regarding your health.
"The immunisation is ready, we come to you and it doesn't cost you anything," he said.
Appointments can be made online or by phoning 4843 4444 or 1300 376 275.
