GLADSTONE Mount Larcom Rd was closed for more than one hour today in both directions after a 54-year-old man collided his white ute in to a tree.
The Gladstone Police was called to the accident at 9am.
There was one person in the vehicle.
Gladstone Police leading officer in charge Glen Fletcher said investigations were continuing in to the cause of the crash.
"He was entrapped in the vehicle for up to an hour while the ambulance and Queensland fire and Emergency Services worked to get him out."
The RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue service has taken him to the Rockhampton Hospital.
THE RACQ helicopter has left the scene of the crash, taking the seriously injured 54-year-old man to Rockhampton Hospital.
Police are about to reopen Gladstone Mount Larcom Rd to traffic.
A 54-year-old man is about to be airlifted to hospital after driving off the side of Gladstone Mount Larcom Rd and crashing into a tree.
He has serious injuries.
The RACQ helicopter is taking the man to Rockhampton Hospital after emergency services freed him from the vehicle wreckage.

One man is reported to be trapped in the vehicle with facial, arm and leg fractures.
