Drink driver runs stop sign, nearly collides with cop car
A MAN who ran a stop sign and nearly collided with a police vehicle while unlicensed appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday.
Casey Sion Mikl pleaded guilty to four charges including driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The court heard Mikl proceeded through the intersection of Goondoon St and Yarroon St in the Gladstone CBD at 4.30am on March 17.
Police prosecutor Sean Franklin told the court the defendant failed to stop at a stop sign, causing an oncoming police vehicle to brake suddenly.
When breathalysed by police, Mikl returned a reading of 0.144%.
Mikl told the court he could remember very little from the incident.
He was fined $650, sentenced to 12 months probation and disqualified from driving for at least 12 months.
