Man found at Tewantin faces credit card fraud charges

A MAN appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning over a series of credit card frauds in south-east Queensland.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad arrested the 44-year-old British man last night after he was located at a Tewantin residence.

A search of the premises found credit card skimming and duplication equipment and other evidence.

It is alleged the man withdrew significant amounts of cash from bank accounts and left the country, travelling between Australia, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Malaysia and New Zealand on fake passports.

He has been charged with three counts of fraud, as well as possession of items used to forge documents and possession of tainted property.

He was remanded to appear in court again for mention on May 13.
