Gladstone man fined $800 for stomping on bouncer's face

JOHN William Ryan left his mark when he was kicked out of the Zodiac Nightclub in Rockhampton last month.

Unfortunately, it was on a security guard's face.

The 23-year-old Gladstone man pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday to being drunk and disorderly in public.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Shaun Janes told the court Ryan was at the club about 1.30am on April 28.

Snr Cons Janes said Ryan was told off by security for touching a female staff member.

But only moments after being asked to stop, he did it again.

Snr Cons Janes said a security guard escorted Ryan outside.

As he did, the pair became involved in a physical altercation and the security guard fell to the ground.

Ryan then stomped on his face as he left. Police intervened and he was arrested.

Magistrate Cameron Press said it was lucky Ryan wasn't charged with anything more serious.

He was fined $800 and banned from the Zodiac for 12 months.
