RESEARCH shows yoga can control blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory function, metabolic rate, skin resistance, brain waves, body temperature, and many other bodily functions.
Here are a few ways yoga can help your body:
Increases bone density - Holding yoga poses is a strength bearing exercise.
Maintains youth - Stretching forces the body to produce new cells.
Lowers blood pressure - Slow breathing for as little as 15 minutes a day shows that blood pressure can be lowered by relaxing the muscles surrounding constricted blood vessels.
Provides stress release - Deep breathing opens blood vessels, allowing more nutrients and oxygen to be carried through the body.
The stretching poses reduce back and neck pain by relaxing the body.
Increases fitness - At Sai Yog with our hot yoga, your heart rate is raised similar to aerobic exercise.
A stronger heart develops, which means a healthier body. Bakasana is one of the most fundamental of all arm balances.
When you truly master this posture, most other arm balances are possible.
In the ideal position the knees rest in the hollows of the armpits.
It is important to engage the shoulder girdle while flexing the spine and firming the pelvic floor to integrate the deep work of Bakasana.
Used as a transition repeatedly from other more challenging arm balances it is crucial to be fully established in regular practice of Bakasana in order to develop strength in yoga.
However, if you rush into the posture without proper development of the core it may put strain on the wrists so proceed with caution.
