MADDY Smith knows how to cook up an outfit.

The 20-year-old apprentice pastry chef monopolised The Observer's online fashion poll this week, with just over 50% of voters deciding they loved the outfit she wore to the Gladstone Turf Club's Rosella Park Race Day last Saturday.

Her outfit (pictured) was the culmination of a shopping trip to Rockhampton and her dress is from Forever New. She was drawn to the colour blue.

Ms Smith is regular racegoer in her down time, as she enjoys "getting dressed up and socialising".

Saturday's jaunt to Ferguson Park proved lucky as she won $11.

The next month will be a busy one for Ms Smith at her workplace, Craig's Bakery, with people hosting events for the festive season.

But that won't worry her, as is evident from her sunny disposition and affection for whipping up birthday cakes.

"I get to be creative and make people happy," she said.

Ms Smith is excited about becoming a qualified pastry chef in February.

Before then she will be having a special Christmas lunch with family.

"My brother is coming home from Townsville," she said.
