Mack to attack next two tests

ATHLETICS: The adrenalin continues to flow for Mack Geiger.

The youngster is gearing up for two upcoming events.

The first is the under-15 Capricornia Touch trials this Tuesday and almost two weeks later, he will back up at the Queensland Little Athletics State Championships in Brisbane from March 23 to 25.

His confidence for these champs will be sky high after he won three gold and two silvers at the recent Regional Championships in Gayndah where he broke a record in the process.

He won gold in the 90-metre hurdles where he broke the regional record by 0.47 seconds and broke his previous personal best by 0.56 seconds and this was a Queensland Athletics national qualifying time.

Mack also produced a Queensland Athletics national qualifying time in the 200-metre hurdles with another gold-winning effort.

He improved his previous PB by 0.55 seconds and collected gold in the 400-metre sprint and two silvers in javelin and triple jump.

Mack's best was yet to come in Melbourne last weekend at the

Australian Junior Combined Championships U15 Heptathlon.

Despite some earlier setbacks which included a fall in his first event (100-metre hurdles), he turned a weakness into a strength.

He bettered his previous 1500-metre PB time by a huge 22-second in the last of his seven events.

Mack's win in the run guaranteed him silver.
