Luxurious houses up for grabs in Gladstone region

OUTLANDISH houses always have a way of standing out in a crowd but what makes a property catch the eye in regions like Gladstone?

Eleven Piper St, West Gladstone is one of these extraordinary houses built by Gladstone builder Peter Harris.

The home features views to the sea that stretch out from the upper and lower levels of the property and the architecturally-designed home is currently up for sale.

Another superb house that catches eyes in the Gladstone region is 3 Island View Ct, Tannum Sands.

This property features an exceptionally large kitchen, water tanks, the essential air-conditioning and, most importantly, a 5m x 5m concrete pool.

Gladstone Property Plus principal Wendy Westbrook, who is in charge of selling the property, said the key features included ocean views and breezes and beautiful wrap-around verandas.

She said the key selling attributes were the property's position and views.

"There's no expense spared on the quality," she said.

The architects responsible are Gladstone's John Bright and Associates Architects.

The company has been in Gladstone for over 30 years and the company's principal John Bright said the firm's approach was to discuss with clients what there were looking to achieve, on a problematic basis.

"And then we come up with a proposal," he said.

In Mr Bright's opinion a house does not necessarily have to be outlandish and showy to be amazing.

His advice to people wanting an award-winning house is "don't do it".

"I'm not the guy. I'll give them something that may win awards but to my mind that's not a direction to lead people down."

Mr Bright said people should be very selective when looking at a site.

"Orientation is important. Northern atmosphere is delightfully exciting," he said.

"Look for something that has got something.

"Everything else is then down to the cleverness of the architect and the budget."
