G-Bangers are top of local talent pack on pub scene

LOCAL talent is flowing in Gladstone at the moment, and duo band The G Bangers are near the top of the pack.
Made up of mates Jayd McKenzie and Andrew Thompson, the G Bangers are playing at The Agnes Water Tavern this Saturday, at 8pm.
Pulse caught up with Jayd earlier this week.
Tell us about yourselves:
We are both sparkies by trade. I'm 32 and we are both locals. Andrew grew up down the road from me at Beecher; I didn't know him. I started playing guitar in Year 8.
The experience goes past The G Bangers.
I broke up with a band and I called Andrew in for a replacement. He just got up and strutted his stuff on stage and played.
We've been playing together for about a year and a half now.
What is the G Bangers all about?
We didn't want to make a big deal out of it, we just do it for a hobby as we've both got day jobs.
It's just something we do on the side. We sing a few covers and pub songs. We play with slide guitars, banjos and harmonicas.
We just turn up.
Why do you like playing in the band?
I just like the feeling of playing to people and watching them dance and have fun.
As long as everyone's having a great time that's all that matters.
