Lights, camera, action for new Coast web series
AN ACCLAIMED Sunshine Coast director will have cameras and film gear whirring and flashing across the southern parts of this region later this month.
Tam Sainsbury will be shooting her latest drama web series - Time and Place starring A-list actors Lara Cox and Tracy Mann - throughout Golden Beach, Kings Beach and the Glass House Mountains for three weeks from June 28.
"It's about a magazine writer who returns to her home town after living abroad," Sainsbury enthused.
"It has storylines around her whole family.
"Her parents split up, her mum gets a new partner, her dad goes travelling."
Sainsbury envisioned the majority of her cast when writing the script - which she did over four years - but said she wasn't sure if the actors would accept their roles.
"I've managed to get a really good cast: the actors loved the script," she said.
"It is great to write a script specifically for the actors which happened.
"Lara is such a beautiful actor, I pictured her the whole time writing this, and she was able to connect me with other cast members."
Ms Cox recently played Alf Stewart's daughter on hit sitcom Home and Away. Veteran actress Tracy Mann has featured in City Homicide, Blue Heelers, All Saints and more.
Other cast members include Bree Desborough (Home and Away), Jeff Gannon (Malibu Shark Attack, Suing the Devil and A Perfect Life) and Lee Carseldine from Australian Survivor series 1.
The director and mother-of-two said she was naturally drawn to the stage at an early age.
"I fell in love with film from the moment I could read," she said.
"I'd write plays, direct my brothers and sisters around, the neighbours and friends too.
"I then worked as an actor overseas but discovered directing and was fascinated with that."
After a short hiatus to start a family, Sainsbury made a triumphant return to the industry with the film Pinky Promise, which was an international success.
It won a silver award at Cinemafest in New York and was selected to be screened at a special Atlanta, Georgia film festival.
But she refuses to rest on her laurels.
Sunshine Coast Council has helped fund the Time and Place production but further crowdfunding is required to ensure its delivery.
Sainsbury said donors would be rewarded with extra roles and film credits.
Pledges start at $25 and there are lots of great rewards like extra roles, tickets to the premiere, associate producer credit and more.
