LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Appreciating our heroes
Appreciation of the heroes battling the fires
HERE is my story from the 2018 Queensland bushfires.
Roaring flames, smoke everywhere, skies are pink and grey while the sun is bleeding red.
The devastation, the struggle and the loss of properties have left people in heartbreak.
This is a very devastating time for a lot of people and animals.
All the men and women in the emergency services that travelled from NSW to Queensland to help us, I just want to give a big shout out: Thank you so so much, you heard our call and you came to our rescue, on behalf of Queensland we appreciate all your time and you are our heroes.
These men and women have been fighting these fires since day one and they are still fighting to contain them and to stop them from reaching any more properties/land.
I hope everyone is safe in the areas that have been dangerously affected by the roaring flames.
We will all get through this, we have so much support and help, we have each other and all we need to do is follow what is said and stick to the procedure we are given by our local police officers, fire brigade and SES.
They came up here to fight the fires for us with our local emergency services. They put their own lives at risk to save others, left their families and friends and animals to come help us and have had no sleep in doing so.
Now if that is not a hero I don't know what is.
I am praying for everyone affected by the smoke and the fires - stay safe, drink plenty of water and remember to follow the procedure given to us.
Take care, my family and friends in Queensland.
I love you all.
