Leonardo DiCaprio paid 100k for Bono's guitar

LEONARDO DiCaprio paid $100,000 for one of Bono's guitars.

The 'Revenant' actor bid for the instrument during the live auction at Sean Penn's annual J/P Haitian Relief gala in Beverly Hills over the weekend, where he splashed out the huge amount.

Leonardo also donated a prize to the cause, with a lunch with him and Sean, along with a five-night stay at his Palm Springs estate, going for a bid of $200,000.

E! News reports that the ukulele used by Sean's ex-wife Madonna on her 'Rebel Heart' world tour sold for $300,000 while drum lessons by Metallica's Lars Ulrich raised $100,000.

The night raised $7 million for the charity.

Guests at the star-studded event included Justin Bieber, Pamela Anderson, Lana Del Rey, Mark Ruffalo and Patrick Stewart

Leonardo is known for his philanthropy and recently announced he is donating $15 million to charity.

The 40-year-old actor's self-titled foundation, which he founded in 1998 to fund efforts that protect the planet and endangered species, has pledged the generous sum to more than 30 environmental groups "implementing innovative and impactful conservation projects around the globe."

In a statement, the 'Wolf of Wall Street' star said: "The destruction of our planet continues at a pace we can no longer afford to ignore. We have a responsibility to innovate a future where the habitability of our planet does not come at the expense of those who inhabit it. I am proud to support these organisations who are working to solve humankind's greatest challenge."
