Couple drives in to Gladstone to promote fuel efficiency
HELEN and John Taylor, self-described fuel efficiency experts, will drive into Gladstone on Tuesday as part of a Fuel Efficiency Challenge.
The pit stop in Gladstone is part of the Taylors' 38-day trip around Australia that includes Tasmania.
The pair hopes to set a world record for the most fuel efficient "figure-of-eight" drive in Australia under realistic driving conditions, with the aim to use up to 15% less fuel per 100 kilometres than the fuel manufacturer's stated usage.
Through education the Taylors want to demonstrate first-hand how easy it is to save money through being fuel efficient.
They aim to raise awareness of how the combination of fuel efficient driving with regular servicing and the use of premium fuels can reduce fuel consumption.
Their car is powered by 98 premium unleaded petrol as part of Caltex research to end confusion over fuel efficiency.
