Goats end nine year rugby drought

GLADSTONE Rugby Union Football Club has ended a nine year premiership drought with a 21-15 win over Frenchville at Victoria Park yesterday.

Frenchville were the first team to score running in a converted try within the first 10 minutes but the Goats fought back to score a try in the eleventh minute.

Fullback David West quickly gave the Goats a six point lead with a penalty conversion and following it up with a try to lead 13-7.

Frenchville bridged the gap back to three points after converting a penalty.

Frenchville then took the lead 15-13 with a try.

The Goats were the next team to take the lead with a try and when Craig Henderson kicked a field goal with 20 seconds to go the premiership was won 21-15.
