Ladies keen to perform in match-play event
GOLF: Calliope pair Sandy Davison and Brenda Phillips will represent the Golf Central Queensland/Central Highlands team that will compete in the 36th Inter-District Match Play Tournament in Rockhampton.
Davison, who is the team captain, and Phillips will be joined by Gracemere's Susan Kapernick, Martine Kendall of Capricorn Resort and Yeppoon pair Bernie Antcliff and Nadine Battilana.
Games start tomorrow and continue through to Wednesday and golfers will play for the Meg Nunn Dalver.
Ladies' match committee chairperson Kate Bell said there was lot of history behind the competition.
"The first 'Meg Nunn' was held in 1983 at Rockhampton Golf Club and we now see it return to its birthplace," she said.
Each of the seven districts in Queensland has a team of six players, with five to play in each match. The matches start at 7am tomorrow and the second round starts at 12.15pm.
"Wednesday morning will see the event finish with the final matches," Bell said.
"This will be followed by a presentation lunch."
