Have a coffee with... industry group chief Kurt Heidecker
WE have a coffee and a chat with some of Gladstone's favourite faces.
Name: Kurt Heidecker.
Occupation: Gladstone Industry and Leadership Group.
Years lived in Gladstone: Five.
ON A sunny Saturday afternoon you can find me… in the garden. I'm a green thumb. My garden has taken to all herbs and vegetables except garlic.
I wouldn't say I have a guilty pleasure. I don't do guilt. If I make a mistake, I don't do it again.
I eat fish from Gladstone Harbour all the time. I wouldn't even give it a second thought.
I've lived in Mt Isa, Toowoomba, Perth, Canberra, Sydney, Vanuatu, Africa and Papua New Guinea.
I've always wanted to be... an engineer. Pulling a project together is what I really enjoy doing. Today I'm in a managerial position. I build things with people instead of concrete and steel.
I can't remember the last time I… took a day off. I'm counting down to Christmas. I'm lucky to have a few weeks off.
The best way to get through the Valley Car Park is to leave the car at home and walk my dog Nudge to the shops. Best to avoid the chaos altogether.
I must admit when I am at the Nightowl car park I turn right when I leave, after having a good look around. Everyone does it.
If I got tickets to the Academy Awards I'd probably scalp them on eBay and use the money to shout a dinner with some celebrities. I'd rather have a good conversation and meal than sit idle in an awards ceremony.
My mum would be my hero. She did it difficult when we were growing up. She's an unsung Australian hero.
