Festival fun wraps up before a night of smooth jazz
OFFICIAL harbour festival proceedings wrap-up on Saturday night amid a fanfare of colourful street and mainstage entertainment and a last hurrah of fireworks.
But before you pull down the curtains, make sure you've got a ticket to the unforgettable Jazz 'n Shiraz event on Sunday night.
The evening of jazz, swing, soul and funk will feature a stellar line-up of award-winning performers.
Tom Burlinson and his eight-piece band will salute the masters of vocal swing, including Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Sammy David Jr.
Plus they'll play some newer ones, including Robbie Williams and Michael Buble.
The evening will kick off with The Australian Blues Brothers, who will sing and dance to all the classic hits from the movie, when they take the stage, backed by live musicians.
Jazz 'n Shiraz is an all-weather event and admission is by ticket only. Guests are not allowed to bring tables, alcohol or other drinks - some seating will be available.
Taking centre stage at the Gladstone Marina for the grand finale on Saturday night will be the All Star SuperGroup, a tribute band made up of Superstars.
They'll present a combination of tributes that include Elton John, Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, David Bowie, Mick Jagger with Keith Richards, and even ZZ Top, all within the same set, producing a unique, and fast paced visual treat, with each star performing their classic hits.
There will be fireworks from 8pm.
Also on the cards is the Bush Poets Breakfast at the Harbour Festival Food Court.
Tickets are $10 which includes live entertainment and breakfast. The event runs from 7-8.30am.
Tickets are available at the Gladstone Festival and Events office. Phone 4972 5111 for more information.
The Teddy Bears' Picnic also is one for kids young and old.
