Yarwun teen and blues band have 'New Beginning' with album
JACK Blandford is back with more exciting performances set to rock the stage.
And this time he is joined by his band - Jack and The Bom.
The talented 15 year old, that we have all grown to adore, will be playing at the annual Village Festival which includes over 400 musicians and artists from around Australia.
The Yarwun teen has experienced some sensational gigs over the last 12 months including a one-in-a-lifetime jam alongside Grammy award nominee Joe Satriani.
Jack has also played at the Byron Blues Festival and featured in Gladstone's spectacular musical performance - Boomtown.
And to top things off, Jack and The Bom have now released their first album, New Beginnings.
Jack said they released the album around the end of March.
"We've gone through about 100 copies already," he said.
The album consists of six original blues rock and reggae songs written by Jack himself, played skillfully by the close-knit band.
And by close-knit we mean family, making practice time a little less challenging.
Jack's father Darren plays guitar and his 13-year-old sister Frea rips it up on the drums.
"I'm proud of my sister," Jack said.
"She's only been playing drums for a bit over a year."
For Jack the music simply flows and when it comes to writing songs, his tactic is simple.
"I write a few different ways," he said.
"Sometimes it's just playing guitar and I'll come up with a bit of a riff or cords that go great together - and then I'll write the words."
In the band's upcoming gig at the Village Festival, Jack said they will mostly perform original songs and well known covers.
The local band knows a few of the featured artists so festival catch-up times are certainly in order.
"There's been a few bands we've come across and jumped up on stage and jammed with," Jack said.
"Transvaal Diamond Syndicate - we've supported them at the Agnes Tavern a couple of months ago - so it will be good to catch up with them."
With the progress this young star is making, individually and with his band, the words internationally famous do not seem far off.
And when asked what he thought about this Jack said, "I don't know - I'd like to.
"I'm putting everything into music."
