Business workshops: innovation key to business survival

ABOUT 30 small to medium sized business managers and owners attended an informative innovation workshop yesterday.

Innovation Minister Leeanne Enoch said the State Government designed the Innovate Queensland workshops to help small businesses find new ways to solve problems and create opportunities.

"Often small and medium enterprises are time poor, and simply can't invest in research or networking - activities which are known to triple the chance of successful commercialisation," Ms Enoch said.

The program is part of the $180 million Advance Queensland initiative.

Wide Bay Volunteer Resource Association manager Rhonda Whiteside attended the workshop at the Bundaberg Enterprise Centre and said the not-for-profit sector needed to be innovative to survive.

"The minister seems very open to collaboration and we were given key tools to go on with," she said.
