THE hottest place to cool down is returning to Gladstone this summer.

A white Christmas in central Queensland will become a reality, thanks to Winter Magic Ice Skating and the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Business owner Michael Lalic and partner Lorraine Malone are thrilled to share the magic of the ice.

"Kids in regional centres don't often get the opportunity to try ice skating," said Ms Malone.

"It's a skill that builds confidence for a lot of children, and for those under 5 years, we have tobogganing as well."

In a massive operation, the travelling ice rink has taken a fortnight to install in the marquee at the rear of the newly opened GECC.

Gladstone will be hosting Winter Magic Ice Skating from December 20 through to January 26, with daily sessions held at 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm and 7.30pm.

Put on your onesie and receive a free slushie upon entry via Oaka Lane.

Music and drinks are available at the marquee rink, with skate hire included in the session price.
