Gary Larson cannot wait for Maroons' visit in his hometown
NRL legend, Gladstone man Gary Larson is envious.
He wishes he was still playing rugby league as the city has arguably its biggest sporting day on June 14 when the all-conquering Queensland Maroons State of Origin team visits the city.
"It would have been great to come to my home town as a player," former Origin player Larson said.
"It's a huge event and big fanfare.
"(It's) Not everyday that big sports come to Gladstone because when it comes to attracting big events, the town misses out, but this is just fantastic."
As for the Origin match? Larson loved the intensity.
"It was a great physical encounter and both defences were on top and their lines were hard to crack," Larson added.
Tickets to the Fan Day lunch are available.
