Hustlers did Harbour City proud at Tropicarnage tournament
GLADSTONE'S Harbour City Hustlers left for Caboolture and the Tropicarnage tournament hoping to finish within the top half of the ladder, a drastic improvement on last year.
The Hustlers have shown good form and immense improvement this year, but how much progress they had made was still an unknown quantity.
After finishing 11th of the 12 entrants last Tropicarnage, the team was under pressure to win the first bout this year, a feat that they managed, by a very slim margin.
The Hustlers won by just six points (165-159) over the Bay City Rollers, and despite being comprehensively defeated in their subsequent bout with Northern Brisbane Rollers 309-62, the trip south was considered a huge success for the team.
"It is an unofficial state titles for us, all the really good teams are there," Coach Charlie Keenan said.
"We are all about developing, so we push to go to tournaments like this because playing the top teams is the only way to do that."
With a couple away from the squad and an ever growing interest, the Hustlers attitude is what Keenan praises most.
"I thought the team really stepped up and held their heads high," he said.
