How hero neighbour thwarted Harristown burglary

A HARRISTOWN resident owes their neighbour a slab of beer or two after they thwarted a would-be burglar's attempt to steal a motorbike.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the failed thief entered a Shennan St home, about 6am today, and took hold of the bike.

About 20 minutes later a neighbour saw the thief walking the bike down the street.

"A verbal altercation ensued," the spokesman said.

The thief dropped the bike and fled west along Shennan St, empty-handed.

It was the second time a home on Shennan St was targeted by thieves in the past week.

Sometime between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday morning offenders entered a home and stole two mountain bikes, cash and tools, while the occupants were away.

Police are investigating both matters and have appealed for information from the public.

Anyone who can help is asked to phone Policelink in 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
