House auction set to be one of biggest fundraising events
THE long awaited auction of the Peet Charity House is setting up to be one of the biggest single fundraising events undertaken in Gladstone.
The auction will take place at 11am this Saturday, February 23.
Variety Queensland regional events co-ordinator Kelly Hetherington said the whole experience has been a lot of hard work for everyone.
"From the first turn of sod in June 2012 it's been quite a quick progress," she said.
"But leading up there's been a lot of legals."
Ms Hetherington said one of the major people to be thanked was Variety's regional development manager Carly Quinn.
"It's been her baby and it would not have happened without her," she said.
The house is currently looking absolutely breathtaking, thanks to many donations and sponsors.
Organisers are hoping to raise $250,000 at auction, to be donated to four local children's charities.
Construction of the home has been carried out by Tenheggeler Homes.
Organisers would also like to thank Bechtel for their part in furnishing the home.
